JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The District Executive Director of Kigoma District Council invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill six (6) vacant posts in this Council, following approval from the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance. The available posts are as follows:

1.0 DRIVER GRADE II – 3 POSTS

1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Inspecting the vehicle before and after trips to determine its safety condition.
ii. Transporting staff to various locations on official duties.
iii. Performing minor vehicle repairs.
iv. Collecting and distributing official documents.
v. Filling in and maintaining records of all trips in the vehicle logbook.
vi. Cleaning the vehicle.
vii. Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

1.1.1 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT

Applicants must possess a Form IV Certificate and a valid Grade E or C Driving License with at least one (1) year of driving experience without causing an accident. Applicants must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA or any other Government-recognized institution and possess training certificates qualifying them for the respective driving grades.

1.2 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY GRADE II – 3 POSTS

1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Typing letters, files, and standard documents.
ii. Receiving visitors, listening to their issues, and directing them to relevant offices for assistance.
iii. Maintaining files and records of events, appointments, visitors, meeting schedules, supervisor’s trips, and other planned office activities, and informing the supervisor in a timely manner.
iv. Searching for and providing the supervisor with files, documents, or other materials required for office duties.
v. Conveying the supervisor’s instructions to assistants and reporting back on files handled by them.
vi. Receiving files, distributing them to relevant sections, and collecting, storing, and returning them accordingly.
vii. Maintaining office schedules and records and ensuring timely reminders to the supervisor.
viii. Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

1.2.2 QUALIFICATIONS OF THE APPLICANT

Applicants must be Form IV or Form VI graduates with a Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Secretarial Studies from a Government-recognized institution. Applicants must have passed Shorthand in both Kiswahili and English at a speed of 80 words per minute (80 w.p.m). They must also have training in office computer applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail, and Publisher, from Government-recognized institutions.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years.
ii. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply and must indicate the type of disability in the job application system for record purposes.
iii. Applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (C.V) with reliable contact addresses and phone numbers, including names of reliable referees.
iv. All applications must be accompanied by certified copies of academic and professional certificates, certified by a Magistrate or Advocate. These include Form IV or Form VI Certificates (where applicable), Diplomas or Certificates, Computer Certificates, and other relevant professional qualifications.
v. Applicants for the Driver Grade II position with a Grade E or C Driving License must attach certified copies of driving training certificates qualifying them for the respective grades.
vi. Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statements of Results, and Form IV or Form VI result slips will not be accepted.
vii. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates are verified and approved by relevant authorities (NECTA and NACTE).
viii. Applicants who are already employed in the Public Service and whose positions present a conflict of interest should not apply and must comply with Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November, 2010.
ix. Applicants whose names differ across documents must submit a sworn Affidavit for Change of Name (Deed Poll) registered with the Ministry of Lands.
x. Submission of false information or forged qualifications will result in legal action.
xi. The deadline for submitting applications is 18 January, 2026.
