INTRODUCTION

REQUIRED CRITERIA
Minimum Educational Qualification
• Essential: Diploma in Pharmacy and registration in Tanzania
Experience
• Essential: Minimum of 1 year demonstrated experience as a pharmacist with a valid licence
• Experience in MSF or other NGOs in developing countries is desirable
Languages
• Essential mission languages: English and Swahili
• Kirundi and/or French will be an added advantage
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
Execute pharmacy/medical warehouse storing activities in order to keep pharmacy stock above security level and in recommended conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) under the supervision of the Pharmacy Supervisor and in collaboration with the logistics team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise material orders and dispatching to ensure rational use
• Receive orders and deliveries, identify potential discrepancies against cargo manifests or other documents, report them, and store materials according to the system in force to ensure continuous availability
• Ensure good storage conditions of all medical items in accordance with pharmaceutical standards
• Ensure correct entry of data on stock cards and software
• Carry out or participate in regular inventories, including EPREP stock
• Monitor stock levels regarding alarm thresholds, stock-outs, expiry dates and drugs expiring within the next six months
• Prepare orders for different consumption units (departments, wards, etc.), ensuring proper packaging and dispatching
• Report any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Pharmacy Supervisor
• Inform the Pharmacy Supervisor immediately when stock reaches alert limits
• Control warehouse facilities to ensure materials are kept in good condition, including monitoring temperature and ensuring proper cold chain management in line with MSF Supply and Cold Chain protocols
• Ensure cleanliness of the pharmacy store and collaborate closely with the logistics department to maintain refrigeration equipment
• Control warehouse access, ensuring only authorised personnel enter and that doors and exits are secured
• Immediately inform the line manager of any damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft
• Ensure quarantined items (quality alerts, batch recalls, expired or damaged items) are removed from active stock and securely locked
• Prepare stock and inventory reports and submit them to the supervisor
