The University is seeking reliable, detail-oriented, and well-organized Accountants and Accounting Technicians to join its Finance Department. The successful candidates will provide essential support in maintaining accurate financial records, facilitating day-to-day accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, University financial policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.
These roles demand a high level of integrity, accuracy, and professionalism. The appointees will work closely with academic and administrative units to support effective financial management, accountability, and informed decision-making across the University.
Position: Accountant (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate University financial statements, general ledgers, and management reports in compliance with applicable accounting standards and institutional policies.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including tuition fees, grants, and other University income sources.
- Conduct routine internal checks and audits to ensure compliance with University financial regulations and approved procedures.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for University accounts and reconcile general ledger balances.
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and control of the University’s annual budget and rolling forecasts.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory financial reports, including tax returns and submissions to regulatory authorities.
- Provide financial analysis and advisory support to University management, faculties, and departments to enhance cost efficiency and financial sustainability.
Required Qualifications:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA.
Technical Competencies:
- Proficiency and knowledge in accounting and financial management systems such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
Personal Attributes:
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Good planning, organizational, and time-management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with academic and administrative staff.
Position: Accounting Technician (1 Position)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions, including verification, classification, and recording of financial data related to suppliers, staff, and students.
- Perform daily bookkeeping activities, including posting journal entries and preparing bank reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and budget support schedules.
- Reconcile vendor, service provider, and departmental statements, and promptly investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized accounting records and supporting documentation in line with University policies.
- Support accounting activities related to student fees, grants, projects, and other University income sources.
- Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- General knowledge and proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
