HSE MANAGER
On behalf of our client, a leading producer and distributor of high-quality steel products, we are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead and strengthen the organization's Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems. The role ensures full compliance with international standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 50001) and local regulatory requirements including OSHA, NEMC, and Fire & Rescue regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills, and a practical, cost-effective approach to managing HSE risks within a manufacturing environment.

Location: Dar es Salaam
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage all Health, Safety, and Environmental matters in line with company policies, OSHA regulations, EMA Act, and ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards.
• Develop, manage, and control the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) budget.
• Develop and track HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with global HSE benchmarks.
• Provide professional and technical HSE support to management, employees, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with environmental and safety best practices.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and training to site staff to promote environmental responsibility and safe working practices.
• Participate in emergency preparedness, response planning, and rescue training programs.
• Conduct environmental monitoring activities, including sampling, measurement, and recording where required.
• Prepare and deliver HSE awareness programs such as inductions, toolbox talks, safety signage, and campaigns.
• Maintain accurate and complete HSE documentation including permits, method statements, audits, reports, monitoring results, and waste disposal records.
• Maintain a photographic record of site conditions, fixed monitoring points, and environmental incidents.
• Conduct daily workplace inspections and monthly compliance audits, and submit weekly environmental reports covering findings, incidents, complaints, and corrective actions.
• Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and annual HSE performance reports.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
• Demonstrated expertise in:
- ISO 45001 implementation and auditing
- ISO 14001 implementation and auditing
- ISO 50001 implementation and auditing
- Development and implementation of HSE plans, policies, and procedures
- Environmental, Health, Safety, and Fire Safety training
- Waste management and environmental compliance
- Natural resource conservation and environmental remediation
- Risk assessment and hazard identification
- HSE audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance monitoring
