EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT BIST
The Bagamoyo African Institute of Sciences and Technology (BIST), registered by the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET) with Registration Number REG/NACTVET/1185, currently offers Certificate and Diploma programmes in Livestock and Agriculture, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Land Survey and Mapping, Accountancy, Accounting and Finance, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, and Transport and Supply Chain Management.
The Institute invites applications from self-motivated, flexible, honest, hardworking, and committed individuals who can work in a multicultural environment to fill the following vacant positions:
1. Business Administration Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
2. Accounting and Finance Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
3. Banking and Finance Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor Degree in Banking and Finance or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
4. Communication Skills Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies or Linguistics with English, Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication, or Bachelor of Education with Arts majoring in English Language from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
5. Transport and Supply Chain Management Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor Degree in Transport and Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
6. Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
7. Agriculture Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture General, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
8. Agricultural Engineering Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
9. Animal Health and Production Assistant Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Diploma in Animal Health and Production or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of teaching experience or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
10. Law Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Diploma of Laws or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching Business Law or a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
11. Chinese Language Tutors – 05 Posts
Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Chinese Language, Chinese Studies, Linguistics, Education (Chinese Language), Translation and Interpretation (Chinese), or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is an added advantage.
- At least two (2) years of teaching experience in Chinese language instruction is preferred.
- Possession of a postgraduate qualification in Chinese Language, Linguistics, Education, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and curriculum delivery skills.
- Ability to teach Chinese Language at Certificate and Diploma levels.
Duties and Responsibilities for All Tutors
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Teach NTA Level 4–6 (Diploma) programmes.
- Prepare learning lessons and tutorial exercises.
- Conduct research, seminars, and case studies.
- Carry out consultancy and community services under supervision.
- Supervise students’ projects.
- Prepare teaching manuals.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
12. Matron – 03 Posts
Job Purpose: The Matron will serve as the primary custodian of student welfare, hostel discipline, psychosocial support, and health monitoring within female student accommodation facilities. The incumbent will ensure a safe, clean, orderly, and nurturing environment that promotes students' moral, social, and academic growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily management, cleanliness, and security of female student hostels.
- Guide, counsel, and support students in personal and social matters.
- Enforce college rules and regulations regarding hostel residence and student conduct.
- Monitor sick students and coordinate with the college nurse or health facility for prompt medical response.
- Keep accurate records of students residing in hostels and manage hostel property.
- Perform any other administrative duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Social Work, Community Development, Counselling Psychology, Education, Guidance and Counselling, or related Social Sciences from a recognized institution.
- At least 2 years of practical experience in student welfare management, hostel caretaking, or youth mentorship in an educational institution will be an added advantage.
13. Nurse – 03 Posts
Job Purpose: The Nurse will be responsible for providing primary healthcare, first aid, medical consultations, and health education to students and staff within the institute.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate first aid and primary nursing care to sick or injured students and staff.
- Manage the college dispensary/sickbay and maintain accurate inventory of medical supplies.
- Refer serious medical cases to appropriate referral hospitals in a timely manner.
- Conduct health awareness campaigns, hygiene inspections, and wellness education.
- Maintain proper and confidential student medical records.
- Perform any other health-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the relevant Professional Council.
- Experience in a campus, school, or busy clinical environment will be an added advantage.
14. Gardener/Landscaper – 02 Posts
Job Purpose: The Gardener/Landscaper will be responsible for the maintenance, care, and enhancement of the college grounds, gardens, flowers, lawns, and overall green environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plant, water, prune, weed, and care for flowers, trees, lawns, and decorative plants.
- Maintain landscape beauty, campus cleanliness, and green areas.
- Safely operate and maintain gardening tools, lawn mowers, and equipment.
- Identify and report plant diseases or pests and apply appropriate care.
- Assist in general outdoor maintenance as required.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certificate in Horticulture, Agriculture, Gardening, or proven practical skills and experience in flower care, landscaping, and garden design.
- Experience in planting, watering, pruning, trimming, applying fertilizers, and maintaining flowers, lawns, and trees will be an added advantage.
