PROCUREMENT MANAGER – DAR ES SALAAM

Position Summary

Tembo Nickel is seeking to recruit a Procurement Manager to join the Tembo Nickel Project Team. This role will manage demand planning, procurement, and logistics of various materials required for the Tembo Nickel Project. The successful candidate will play a key role in liaising with the Mining Commission and ensuring full compliance with local content regulations. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of integrity and teamwork.

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam Country Office with frequent travel to sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee centralized official equipment ordering processes used by Tembo Nickel.
  • Continuously improve tools and systems used to estimate demand, place orders, monitor inventory, and ensure timely shipment of materials.
  • Support warehouse and construction site teams by ensuring smooth procurement processes.
  • Support field construction teams with complex equipment requirements and tight project schedules.
  • Develop methods to analyze product cost data and identify innovative opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Work closely with Legal, Finance, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Business Development teams to ensure alignment across procurement activities.
  • Negotiate annual supply agreements with vendors and onboard new suppliers where necessary.
  • Consolidate procurement demands and integrate them into the equipment supply system to ensure sufficient inventory and timely delivery.
  • Liaise regularly with the Mining Commission to obtain approvals and ensure compliance with local content regulations.
  • Work with Finance, Human Resources, and Community Relations to develop local content plans and quarterly performance reports.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers regarding production forecasts, quality concerns, and design changes.
  • Lead supplier assessments and implement corrective and preventive improvement actions.
  • Monitor supplier technical, quality, delivery, and financial performance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and collaborate with suppliers to reduce material costs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Supply Chain Management within a reputable organization.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems such as SAP, Pronto, or similar systems.
  • Strong analytical, strategic sourcing, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Membership with PSPTB is mandatory.
  • Excellent knowledge of Tanzania's Local Content legislation is mandatory.

PROCUREMENT OFFICER – KABANGA SITE, NGARA

Position Summary

Tembo Nickel is seeking to recruit a Procurement Officer to join the Tembo Nickel Project Team. This role is responsible for procuring goods and services required by various internal and external stakeholders while ensuring timely delivery. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of integrity and teamwork.

The successful candidate will report to the Procurement Manager.

Roster: 6 Weeks On / 3 Weeks Off

Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (1 Year)

Duty Station: Kabanga Site, Ngara.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate Material Requirements Planning (MRP) daily and generate purchase orders promptly.
  • Resolve material shortages and procurement issues efficiently.
  • Source suppliers and obtain competitive quotations.
  • Prepare purchase orders and monitor supplier performance.
  • Follow up on deliveries to ensure timely receipt of materials and services.
  • Maintain procurement documentation and records accurately.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to understand procurement needs.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Support inventory control and warehouse operations where required.
  • Participate in supplier evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Local Content requirements and applicable procurement regulations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management within a reputable organization.
  • Knowledge of procurement systems such as SAP, Pronto, or similar software.
  • Good analytical, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Membership with PSPTB is required.
  • Knowledge of Tanzania's Local Content legislation is an added advantage.
