Position: Trade Finance

Job Summary

The Trade Finance Assistant Manager will support the Trade Finance team in executing day-to-day business development and product structuring activities. The role involves assisting with administrative tasks such as managing the Trade Finance Deal Pipeline, client follow-ups, preliminary business reviews, and preparation of routine reports. The successful candidate will also provide support in the execution of trade finance transactions and related activities assigned by the Line Manager, enabling the Trade Finance team to focus on strategic and high-value departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new business opportunities and develop relationships with prospective SME and Corporate clients in collaboration with the Trade Finance Manager and Business Teams.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of financing and non-financing requests submitted by customers to ensure they meet the Bank’s eligibility criteria as assigned by the Line Manager.
  • Develop draft indicative term sheets for transactions in line with customer requests and the Bank’s products.
  • Originate, structure, follow up, and monitor trade finance transactions through to completion while tracking revenue from executed transactions.
  • Follow up on action tracking logs arising from internal meetings, external meetings, and business missions requiring Trade Finance actions.
  • Monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure Trade Finance activities are handled efficiently and within agreed timelines.
  • Manage the overall Trade Finance pipeline across business units, customer segments, and products.
  • Prepare and track Trade Finance reports to support accurate decision-making in collaboration with Trade Finance Operations and other departments.
  • Participate in industry trade forums and conferences to create and develop business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by delivering excellent customer service to enhance customer loyalty and maximize business opportunities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager or Supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the banking industry.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working with Trade Finance products.
