ANNOUNCEMENT ON RECRUITMENT OF COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS (CHWs)
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Health and the Office of the President – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), is implementing the Community Health Workers (CHWs) Programme. Through this programme, the Government has established arrangements to recruit qualified Community Health Workers, provide them with training, and deploy them to deliver essential community health, well-being and nutrition services in areas where the programme requires two (2) Community Health Workers, namely one male and one female, for each ward/village.
In implementing this programme, Kibondo District Council, in collaboration with the Office of the President – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), announces to the public that the programme will be implemented in Kigoma Region in Kibondo and Uvinza District Councils, where applicable, as shown below:

Applicants who are permanent residents of Kibondo and Uvinza District Councils are required to apply for the position of Community Health Worker in all wards/villages within their respective District Councils. All applications should be submitted to the respective Ward Executive Officers, who will oversee the selection of applicants who meet the required qualifications. Applicants should note that these positions are for short-term employment contracts.
QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS:
a) Must possess an official identification document such as a National Identification Card (NIDA), Voter’s ID Card, Driver’s Licence, or National Identification Card issued by the Prime Minister’s Office;
b) Must have completed Secondary Education, at least Form Four, and possess a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE/Leaving Certificate);
c) Must be a permanent resident of the respective Ward/Village and Town;
d) Must understand the language, customs, traditions and community practices of the respective area;
e) Must be cooperative and able to work effectively with the community;
f) Must have a clean record of child abuse and neglect and violence against children;
g) Must have a willingness to serve, empathy and the ability to communicate with the community;
h) Must be trustworthy and able to keep confidential information secret;
i) Must be willing and ready to work in the respective Ward or Village; and
j) Must be aged between 18 and 55 years.
APPLICATIONS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE WARD EXECUTIVE OFFICER, ACCOMPANIED BY:
a) An application letter for the position of Community Health Worker, handwritten and signed by the applicant;
b) A copy of the Form Four Certificate (CSEE/Leaving Certificate);
c) Two (2) passport-size photographs;
d) A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) indicating age, place of birth, full name and mobile phone number of the applicant, together with the names and mobile phone numbers of two (2) referees who are not relatives;
e) A recommendation letter from the Village/Ward Executive Officer of the applicant’s respective area.
The deadline for submitting these applications is two (2) weeks from the date of publication of this announcement. Further information can be obtained from the respective Ward Executive Offices.
