ANNOUNCEMENT OF VOLUNTARY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE
The Medical Officer In-Charge of Geita Regional Referral Hospital invites applications from qualified Tanzanians for voluntary service opportunities for a period of twelve (12) months. The available positions are as follows:
1.0 ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT GRADE I – 3 POSTS
1.1 QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must possess a Diploma in Accounting from a Government-recognized institution or an ATEC II Certificate issued by NBAA, or other equivalent qualifications recognized by NBAA.
1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Maintain cash books for recurrent and development expenditures.
ii. Maintain payment voucher documents.
iii. Record revenue and expenditure in financial books.
iv. Prepare various reports on funds received.
v. Perform any other duties related to the field as assigned by the supervisor.
1.3 MONTHLY ALLOWANCE
The monthly allowance will be provided as stipulated in the 2025 Guidelines for Voluntary Service in the Public Service.
2.0 PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIST GRADE II – 5 POSTS
2.1 QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must possess a Diploma in Pharmacy from a Government-recognized institution, have completed one year of internship training, and be registered with the Pharmacy Council.
2.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Identify, prepare and order medicines and medical supplies required in the respective work area.
ii. Dispense medicines and medical supplies to patients and staff.
iii. Compound medicines.
iv. Store medicines and medical supplies.
v. Educate the community on the proper use of medicines.
vi. Inspect medicines, medical supplies, chemicals, reagents and cosmetics within the respective work area.
vii. Provide information on adverse effects resulting from the use of medicines.
viii. Coordinate the activities of hospital committees.
ix. Prepare reports on the use of medicines and medical supplies.
x. Conduct quality assessments of medicines, medical supplies, chemicals, reagents and cosmetics.
xi. Conduct various inspections in areas where medicines are stored.
xii. Supervise the performance of staff under his/her supervision.
xiii. Maintain records of medicines and medical supplies.
xiv. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
2.3 MONTHLY ALLOWANCE
The monthly allowance will be provided as stipulated in the 2025 Guidelines for Voluntary Service in the Public Service.
3.0 MENTAL HEALTH MEDICAL DOCTOR – 1 POST
3.1 QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must possess a degree in Psychiatry from a Government-recognized institution, have completed internship, and obtained registration from the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
3.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Perform all clinical duties related to mental health conditions at the hospital.
ii. Provide and coordinate health education and promote community health within the respective work area.
iii. Maintain statistics and submit them as directed in accordance with MTUHA requirements.
iv. Plan and evaluate mental health services within the respective work area.
v. Develop and prepare strategies to improve the quality of services in the respective professional field.
vi. Prepare plans and budget estimates for mental health services.
vii. Participate in medical audits and quality improvement of mental health services.
viii. Perform any other duties related to his/her education, experience and skills as assigned by the supervisor.
3.3 MONTHLY ALLOWANCE
The monthly allowance will be provided as stipulated in the 2026 Guidelines for Voluntary Service in the Public Service.
4.0 LAUNDRY ATTENDANT GRADE II – 1 POST
4.1 QUALIFICATIONS
The applicant must have completed Form Four education and successfully completed two or three years of training in Laundry Services from a Government-recognized institution.
4.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Sort clothes and other laundry items for washing and drying, ironing and packaging.
ii. Maintain all equipment related to laundry services.
iii. Perform any other duties related to his/her education, experience and skills as assigned by the supervisor.
4.3 MONTHLY ALLOWANCE
The monthly allowance will be provided as stipulated in the 2025 Guidelines for Voluntary Service in the Public Service.
5.0 GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR APPLICANTS
i. Must be a Tanzanian citizen aged 18 years or above and not exceeding 35 years.
ii. Must have completed Form Four education or higher.
iii. Must be the rightful owner of the academic and professional certificates submitted and must attach copies of the certificates to the application.
iv. Must be willing to volunteer in the respective work area.
v. Must not have previously been convicted by a court of law for a criminal or disciplinary offence.
vi. Must have good conduct and character acceptable to the community.
vii. Must not have previously been employed by any Public Institution since completing his/her studies.
viii. Applicants whose professions require registration with their respective professional boards must attach registration certificates and valid licences.
ix. Applicants who meet the required criteria will be invited for an interview.
x. Applicants should indicate the position applied for on the outside of the envelope.
xi. The deadline for submitting applications is 24 August 2026.
xii. Hand-delivered applications will not be accepted.
