CLINICAL OFFICER – 1 POSITION
Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified and experienced Clinical Officer to join DYNAMIA Project. The Clinical Officer will be stationed at Bagamoyo, Mapinga site and required to work in a selected clinical trial site where recruitment and scheduled visits for study participants will be conducted. Primary roles will include screening of study volunteers, completion of case reporting forms and provision of clinical care of any medical condition as per National standard treatment guidelines.

Responsibilities
• To attend community sensitization meetings for study volunteer. • Treat patients according to National standard treatment guidelines. • To review laboratory results and resolve queries related to data collected. • To attend internal and external meetings conducted at facility during study conduct. • To attend departmental meetings in each financial year. • To participate in the development of study SOP and other study documents. • Conduct recruitment and enrollment visits as per specified protocol and SOPs. • To ensure that protocol, SOPs and all related study documents are well communicated and duly followed by all personnel involved in the trial. • To ensure that all ethical concerns in the protocols approved by the review board are duly followed during the study. • Supervise study procedure, ensuring that they are done well as per approved protocol, ICH Guidelines and relevant local regulation. • To maintain professional and ethical manner, accountability and integrity. • Build trust, better communication and improve the overall outcome of the project. • Support study and community engagement coordinators in planning, organizing, and coordinating study work including establishing and maintaining linkages with participating health facilities in the field and other key community stakeholders. • Support in sensitization and recruitment of the intended studies and any other activities related to the community engagement process. • Carry out additional duties as assigned by project leader.
Skills
• Basic digital skills including MS Office and Data management tools. • Time management to establish priorities and planning the project timelines. • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP). • Self-motivated individual who is able to work with minimal supervision. • Effective communication, collaborative and problem-solving skills. • Able to meet deadlines.
Qualifications Required
• Diploma in Clinical Medicine. • Enrolled and allowed to practice as Clinical Officer by the Medical Council of Tanganyika.
Experience
• At least one-year work experience in clinical research.
Preferred Language Skill
• Fluent both oral and written English and Swahili.

RESEARCH OFFICER – 1 POSITION
Position Summary
Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a qualified Research Officer to join the MoDD Africa Tanzania Country hub.
The Research Officer will play a significant and strategic role of continuously assisting core researchers improving the data science and engineering capabilities while contributing to the development of analytical models, preparation of input data, deployment of workflows, and dissemination of results, including writing reports, papers for peer reviewed publications, poster preparations and engaging with relevant collaborators.
The Research Officer is expected to lead, design and implement small projects with deliverables contributing to the overall objective and scope of the MoDD Africa project. Applicant must be a Tanzanian national. Females applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
• Undertake and support literature reviews, data explorations and data extraction, including extraction of needed metrics for modelling work from published literature and official reports. • Obtain, manage, and conduct preliminary processing and analysis on a variety of datasets. • Utilize software including Excel, ArcGIS/QGIS, STATA, and R, Python and others to examine, manipulate, analyze and process data, create graphs, reports, maps, and other visualizations of results. • Create, document, version control and maintain robust ETL data pipelines. • Select, follow, and adapt data extraction and manipulation protocols. • Promote the best practice on use of data and conduct analytics by being responsible with others for general IT housekeeping, maintenance of back-ups, documentation of protocols, data processing procedures, and review of procedures. • Take reasonable care for your own safety and health and avoid harming the safety and health of others through any act or omission at work. • Identify and assess workplace hazards and apply hazard controls. • Must adhere to IHI core Values. • Abide by institutional policies and procedures.
Skills
• An understanding of the epidemiology of vector-borne diseases such as malaria and other infectious diseases, public health. • Ability and experience to write codes in R-studio, develop software packages and dashboards. • Interest for career development including joining MSc or PhD program in advanced modeling. • Knowledge of other languages including Swahili, French, Spanish, Portuguese is an advantage. • Must adhere to IHI core Values. • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in both professional and courteous manner. • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., R/Python, Stata), knowledge of other statistical software and data visualization applications.
Qualifications Required
• Minimum requirement is completion of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area i.e., statistics, mathematics, data/computer science/engineering, or similar quantitative discipline.
Experience
• Experience in managing, analyzing, interpreting, wrangling and manipulating data using a variety of software platforms; Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., R, Python) or geospatial tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS). • Basic experience in data analysis or modelling, preferably related to infectious diseases or public health. • Experience of working with spatial data and geometry files using GIS tools. • Experience in development and/or delivering training for different audiences.
Preferred Language Skill
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in the English language. • Knowledge of other languages including Swahili, French, Spanish, Portuguese is an advantage. • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in both professional and courteous manner.
