  1. Clinical Officer – Sacubitril Valsartan Study (1 Position)

Job Opening Date: 30 January 2026
Job Closing Date: 12 February 2026

Job Summary:
IHI is looking for a qualified Clinical Officer for the Sacubitril Valsartan Study. The officer will work within the clinical research platforms of the Heart and Lung Clinic, CDCI, Emergency Department, and IMC-SFRH to implement study activities in Ifakara.

Responsibilities:
• Screen eligible patients for studies at the Heart and Lung Clinic
• Attend to and manage patients with chronic heart failure
• Participate in quantitative data collection
• Track patients who miss follow-up visits with community health workers
• Follow up on laboratory and radiological findings and record them electronically
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the project leader

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma in Clinical Medicine with experience in quantitative data collection
• Minimum of one (1) year experience managing critically ill patients or patients with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
• Certified in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
• Fluent in Swahili and English

  1. Assistant Field Officer – CARECHAIN-NCD Project (1 Position)

Job Summary:
IHI seeks an Assistant Field Officer for the CARECHAIN-NCD Project. The officer will work in Kilombero Valley and Bagamoyo District to implement project activities within existing clinical research platforms.

Responsibilities:
• Provide health education to individuals, groups, and communities through mass media and outreach activities
• Participate in quantitative and qualitative data collection at the Heart and Lung Clinic
• Track patients who miss follow-up visits with community health workers
• Provide health education and counseling to NCD patients in health facilities
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, or a related field with experience in quantitative data collection
• Certified in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
• Minimum of one (1) year experience providing health education and counseling to NCD patients
• Fluent in Swahili and English

  1. Biostatistician Intern – MSMT2 Project (1 Position)

Job Summary:
IHI is offering a Biostatistician Internship based in Dar es Salaam. The intern will receive training in statistical analysis, data management, and contribute to malaria molecular surveillance research.

Responsibilities:
• Undergo training in statistical programming (R, STATA, Python, SAS)
• Analyze biomedical data for malaria molecular surveillance
• Clean, preprocess, and manage project data
• Apply statistical models and contribute to reports and manuscripts
• Participate in research meetings and mentorship programs

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science (graduated within the last 24 months)
• Minimum GPA of 3.8 with academic certificates and transcripts
• Experience in genomics, statistical modeling, or data visualization using R is an added advantage
• Fluent in Swahili and English

  1. Clinical Officer – SEPSIS Study (1 Position)

Job Summary:
IHI is recruiting a Clinical Officer for a Sepsis Surveillance Study. The officer will collaborate across clinical platforms in Ifakara to implement study activities.

Responsibilities:
• Screen and recruit eligible patients at IMC and the Emergency Room
• Participate in quantitative data collection
• Conduct patient follow-up after hospital discharge
• Follow up on laboratory findings and record them electronically
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma in Clinical Medicine with experience in quantitative data collection
• Certified in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
• Minimum of one (1) year experience managing critically ill patients or infectious diseases
• Fluent in Swahili and English

  1. Research Officer – CARECHAIN-NCD / Sub-Heart Study (1 Position)

Job Summary:
IHI is seeking a Research Officer for the Sub-Heart Study. The officer will work at the Heart and Lung Clinic to support study implementation.

Responsibilities:
• Screen eligible patients for the Sub-Heart Study
• Participate in the patient consenting process
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative data collection
• Transcribe audio-recorded data
• Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine with experience in quantitative data collection
• Certified in Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
• Minimum of one (1) year experience managing patients with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
• Fluent in Swahili and English

  1. Laboratory Scientist Intern – MSMT2 Project (2 Positions)

Job Opening Date: 22 January 2026

Job Summary:
IHI is offering two Laboratory Scientist Internships based in Dar es Salaam. Interns will receive training in molecular biology techniques and laboratory management under the MSMT2 project.

Responsibilities:
• Participate in sample collection, processing, and analysis according to SOPs
• Assist in equipment maintenance and quality control programs
• Process specimens and record results accurately
• Ensure proper sample storage and laboratory cleanliness
• Participate in research meetings and training sessions

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (graduated within the last 24 months)
• Minimum GPA of 3.8 with academic certificates and transcripts
• Experience in genomics, molecular biology techniques, or data visualization using R is an added advantage
• Fluent in Swahili and English

  1. Research Officer Intern – DM4M Project (3 Positions)

Job Opening Date: 23 January 2026
Job Closing Date: 05 February 2026

Job Summary:
IHI is seeking three Research Officer Interns for the DM4M Project based in Dar es Salaam. Interns will gain experience in mathematical modelling, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science applied to public health.

Responsibilities:
• Execute data science and modelling tasks for health research
• Receive training in infectious disease biology and mosquito data management
• Work on programming, machine learning, and AI-related projects
• Contribute to improving the Vector Control Optimization Model (VCOM)
• Support grant writing, literature reviews, and manuscript preparation

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Advanced Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Health Informatics, or a related field
• Experience in developing web-based database applications
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, R, SQL, and data analysis tools
• Excellent spoken and written English

Desired Skills:
Strong data management and analysis skills, ability to work independently and within teams.
