The Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), owned by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), is inviting applications from suitably qualified, dynamic, and motivated Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions:
- PROJECT RESEARCH ASSISTANT (1 POST)
Report to: Principal Investigator
Location: Mwanza
Project: “Amplifying the Voices of People Affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases to Accelerate Control and Elimination Efforts in Africa”
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized University or Institution.
• Ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Substantial field-work experience, including long-term day-to-day management of large field teams.
• Familiarity with parasitological diagnostics, including copro-microscopic methods.
• Experience and demonstrated expertise in the analysis of large epidemiological datasets, including data management and proven strong ability to use the statistical package Stata.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and succinctly for a range of audiences, including academic publications.
• Proven ability to organize work effectively to deadlines and exercise initiative and sound judgment in carrying out and managing research tasks.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
• Two to three years’ experience of coordinating and implementing community-based research works and interventions is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct day-to-day administration of the research project and participate in team meetings and activities.
• Plan weekly duties, prioritize tasks, communicate plans to the Principal Investigator and team, and ensure completion.
• Prepare study materials, data collection tools, and strategies for data management, including developing standard operating procedures.
• Oversee quality control activities.
• Prepare budgets and associated justifications.
• Coordinate and oversee data entry and data collection, including parasitology and ultrasound data.
• Liaise with district, ward, and village partners, and with partners in community sensitization and dissemination of findings.
• Work in close collaboration with all members of the project team and the wider research group as required.
• Supervise students attached to the project.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.
- BURSAR (1 POST)
Department: Finance
Qualifications and Experience:
• Holder of a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution.
• Professional accountancy qualification such as CPA (T), ACCA, or its equivalent.
• Minimum of six years’ work experience in a similar position in a reputable organization/institution, preferably in a higher learning institution.
• Strategic mindset with ability to lead, inspire, and achieve results.
• Demonstrated managerial, supervisory, and leadership skills.
• Expert knowledge, skills, and experience in principles and practices of international accounting and financial management.
• Excellent knowledge of and skills in the use of integrated IT accounting systems (e.g., Sage and other accounting packages).
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Key Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Provide overall leadership in strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and effective management of financial resources.
• Coordinate the preparation of annual operational plans and budgets.
• Oversee budget implementation, monitoring, and ensure expenditures are within approved limits.
• Coordinate development and review of financial policies, systems, and procedures.
• Ensure timely and efficient financial reporting and adherence to audit, taxation, and legal requirements.
• Develop and manage short-term and long-term investment strategies, including the CUHAS Endowment Fund.
• Supervise, evaluate, and develop finance staff.
- DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (ICT) (1 POST)
Directorate: Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
Qualifications and Experience:
• Holder of a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Data Management, or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution.
• Certification in CCNA, MCSD, MCSE, or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Minimum of three years’ work experience in a similar position in a reputable organization/institution, preferably in an academic environment.
• Experience in WAN and LAN network development and management, IT project management, management of professional staff, and budgetary control.
• Strategic mindset with demonstrated managerial, supervisory, and leadership skills.
• Excellent knowledge of integrated IT systems (e.g., accounting, HR, payroll, student information systems).
Key Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Plan, coordinate, and develop ICT services to meet the University’s communication, information processing, and retrieval needs.
• Provide leadership and management to the ICT team.
• Advise on development and implementation of ICT strategies and long-term plans.
• Establish and enforce security, data protection protocols, and disaster recovery plans.
• Manage ICT infrastructure (hardware, software, and networks) and ensure optimum performance.
• Coordinate end-user support services and stay updated with industry trends.
• Represent the University in ICT-related initiatives.
- LECTURERS – WEILL BUGANDO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
• Department of General Surgery (1 Post)
• Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma (2 Posts)
• Department of Critical Care/Anaesthesia (2 Posts)

Qualifications:
• Holder of a Master of Medicine (MMed) or equivalent degree with a GPA of 4.0 and above or an average of B+ grade from a recognized Institution, plus a GPA of 3.5 and above from undergraduate studies.
• Must be registered by the respective Council/Board.
• Teaching experience of two years is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching, research, and clinical service, including curriculum development, student supervision, conducting and publishing research, and delivering quality patient care and clinical teaching.
- ASSISTANT LECTURER – PHARMACEUTICAL MICROBIOLOGY (1 POST)
Department: Microbiology and Immunology
Qualifications:
• Holder of a Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Master of Science in Clinical Microbiology and Diagnostic Molecular Biology, or equivalent with a GPA of 4.0 or an average of B+ grade from a recognized Institution, plus a GPA of 3.5 and above from undergraduate studies.
• Must be registered by the respective Council/Board.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducting lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practicals for undergraduate programmes; assisting senior staff; supervising student projects; conducting and publishing research; and performing other assigned duties.
- LECTURER – COMMUNITY MEDICINE / ENVIRONMENTAL AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH (1 POST)
School: Public Health
Qualifications:
• Holder of a PhD or equivalent degree with a Master’s Degree in Community Medicine or Environmental and Occupational Health or equivalent, with a GPA of 4.0 or an average of B+ grade from a recognized Institution, plus a GPA of 3.5 and above from undergraduate studies.
• Must be registered by the respective Council/Board.
• Teaching experience of two years is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching at undergraduate and Master’s levels; field supervision; mentoring; curriculum development; research; community outreach; consultancy; and other assigned duties.
- ASSISTANT LECTURER – EPIDEMIOLOGY AND BIOSTATISTICS (1 POST)
Department: Epidemiology and Biostatistics
Qualifications:
• Holder of a Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Applied Statistics, Medical Statistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or equivalent with a GPA of 4.0 or an average of B+ grade from a recognized Institution, plus a GPA of 3.5 and above from undergraduate studies.
• Must be registered by the respective Council/Board.
• Teaching experience of two years is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Similar to those listed under Position (6) above, with focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
- LECTURER – CLINICAL NURSING (1 POST)
School: Archbishop Anthony Mayala School of Nursing
Qualifications:
• Holder of a PhD or equivalent degree with a Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent, with a GPA of 4.0 or an average of B+ grade from a recognized Institution, plus a GPA of 3.5 and above from undergraduate studies.
• Must be registered by the respective Council/Board.
• Teaching experience of two years is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching at undergraduate and Master’s levels; student supervision; mentoring; research; community outreach; consultancy; and other assigned duties.

Institute: Institute of Allied Health Sciences

Qualifications:
• Holder of a Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, or equivalent with a score of at least B in the relevant subject and a GPA of 3.5 and above.
• Must be registered by the respective Council/Board.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching diploma students; preparing practical materials; conducting practical exercises; assisting in technical duties, research, and maintenance of laboratory facilities; and performing administrative duties as assigned.
