JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Executive Director of Handeni District Council invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for twenty-eight (28) job vacancies in the Council, following approval from the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance. The available positions are as follows:
1.1 DRIVER GRADE II – THIRTEEN (13) POSTS
1.1.1 Duties and Responsibilities
i. Inspecting vehicles before and after trips to determine their safety condition;
ii. Transporting staff to various destinations on official duties;
iii. Carrying out minor vehicle repairs;
iv. Maintaining and recording all trips in a vehicle logbook;
v. Collecting and distributing various documents;
vi. Cleaning and ensuring proper upkeep of the vehicle; and
vii. Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
1.1.2 Qualifications of the Applicant
Applicants must possess a Form IV Certificate and a valid Class E or C Driving License with a working experience of not less than one (1) year without causing an accident. They must also possess driving training certificates that qualify them for the relevant license class and must have attended a Basic Driving Course offered by VETA College or any other Government-recognized institution.

1.2 OFFICE MANAGEMENT SECRETARY II – SIX (6) POSTS
1.2.1 Duties and Responsibilities
i. Typing letters, circulars, and routine or confidential documents;
ii. Receiving visitors, listening to their issues, and directing them appropriately;
iii. Keeping records of events, appointments, meetings, supervisors’ travel, and work schedules;
iv. Searching for files and documents required for task execution;
v. Receiving files and distributing them to officers in the relevant Departments, Units, or Sections;
vi. Collecting, storing, and returning files and documents to relevant sections;
vii. Arranging extracts and preparations for various meetings; and
viii. Preparing lists of office equipment requirements.
1.2.2 Qualifications of the Applicant
Applicants must have completed Form IV or Form VI and possess a Certificate or Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an NTA Level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies. They must have passed a typing test in both Kiswahili and English at a speed of 100 words per minute and possess skills in office computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail, and Publisher from a Government-recognized institution.
1.2.3 Salary Scale
According to Government Salary Scales TGS – C
1.3 RECORDS ASSISTANT GRADE II – EIGHT (8) POSTS
1.3.1 Duties and Responsibilities
i. Registering incoming correspondence in the Incoming Correspondence Register;
ii. Registering outgoing correspondence in the Outgoing Correspondence Register;
iii. Distributing files to Action Officers;
iv. Receiving files returned from Action Officers to the registry;
v. Searching for records, documents, or files as required by officers;
vi. Returning files to racks, filing cabinets, or other storage areas; and
vii. Tracking the movement of files within and outside the institution.
1.3.2 Qualifications of the Applicant
Applicants must have completed Form IV or Form VI and possess a Certificate or Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Records Management or a related field from a Government-recognized institution, with computer skills.
1.3.3 Salary Scale
According to Government Salary Scales TGS – C
1.4 KITCHEN ATTENDANT GRADE I – ONE (1) POST
1.4.1 Duties and Responsibilities
i. Cleaning cooking and dining utensils;
ii. Cleaning the kitchen and dining areas;
iii. Delivering cooking equipment to cooks;
iv. Preparing cooking and serving utensils for cooks and servers;
v. Cleaning and arranging dining areas and utensils;
vi. Assisting cooks and servers; and
vii. Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
1.4.2 Qualifications of the Applicant
Applicants must be Form IV graduates with a Certificate in Kitchen Service training from a Government-recognized institution.
1.4.3 Salary Scale
According to Government Salary Scales TGOS – A
1.5 GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR APPLICANTS
i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years;
ii. Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to apply and must indicate their disability in the job application system for the attention of the Public Service Employment Secretariat;
iii. Applicants for Driver Grade II positions with Class E or C licenses must attach driving training certificates qualifying them for the respective license class;
iv. All applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a functional address, reliable telephone numbers, an active email address, and names of three (3) referees;
v. Employees currently holding temporary positions in the Public Service are not allowed to apply and must adhere to Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November, 2010;
vi. All applications must be accompanied by certified copies of academic and professional certificates certified by an Advocate or Lawyer, including Form IV or VI certificates and certificates of relevant training;
vii. Testimonials, provisional results, statements of results, and Form IV or VI results slips will not be accepted;
viii. Applicants who studied outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates are verified and validated by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE);
ix. Retired Public Service employees are not eligible to apply unless they have written permission from the Chief Secretary;
x. Submission of false information or qualifications will result in legal action;
xi. The deadline for submitting applications is 16th January, 2026;
