Haydom Lutheran Hospital is a faith-based, non-profit healthcare institution owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT – Mbulu Diocese). Established in 1955, the hospital serves as a referral and teaching hospital for surrounding regions, providing comprehensive medical, surgical, maternal, and community health services. Position Summary
Haydom Lutheran Hospital is seeking a reliable, ethical, and highly motivated Internal Auditor to strengthen internal controls, enhance risk management, and support good governance across hospital operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with hospital policies, donor requirements, and applicable laws, while promoting efficient and effective use of resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement internal audit plans in line with hospital objectives;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls, financial systems, and operational procedures;
- Review compliance with hospital policies, donor requirements, and regulatory frameworks;
- Conduct performance audits for hospital functions including financial, support services, procurement, and administrative operations;
- Identify risks, control gaps, and areas for improvement, and recommend practical solutions;
- Prepare accurate audit reports and present findings to management and Board committees;
- Follow up on audit recommendations to ensure timely implementation; and
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold high ethical and professional standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field;
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent is a mandatory requirement;
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a Master’s qualification are added advantages;
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in internal or external auditing;
- Knowledge of auditing standards, internal controls, and risk management;
- Experience in healthcare or non-profit organizations is an added advantage; and
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
